Instructions for your son's circumcision

  1. Purchase 4-5 tubes of bacitracin or triple antibiotic ointment.  You will need to bring one tube into the office for the first diaper change.
  2. Purchase fifty 4 X 4 gauze pads.  You will need to bring in one pad for the first diaper change.
  3. Purchase Emla cream (Call our office so we can call this into the pharmacy for you).  You will need to bring this topical preparation into the office for your son.
  4. Bring in diaper changing supplies including wipes, diapers, change of clothes, etc…

When you bring your son into the office for his circumcision, Emla cream (a numbing agent) will be placed on his penis for at least 45 minutes.  After the procedure, we will bring him to you in our recovery area and explain how everything went.  We want to check his circumcision site at least 45 minutes after the procedure to make sure it is healing well.  This is when we will do the first diaper change with you and use the bacitracin ointment and gauze pad.

You can buy the supplies at almost any local store (Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreen’s, etc…).  If there are any questions or concerns before or after the circumcision, please feel free to call our office.
